Jammu, Feb 04 (KNO): Health and Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Wednesday called for prioritising public issues over divisive narratives, saying people have sent elected representatives to serve them. She said discussions should focus on public concerns rather than personal agendas, religion, or region-wise differences. "For us, Jammu and Kashmir is one, and all public representatives should work for the people," Itoo told reporters on the sidelines of the ongoing Assembly session in Jammu. The minister, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), urged political representatives to work for the welfare of all regions and focus on fulfilling promises such as statehood. “The BJP had promised statehood to the people before the elections. That must remain part of our discussions,” she said, highlighting key public demands, including water issues. Addressing attempts to push communal narratives, Itoo added, “The Hindu-Muslim narrative has already been rejected by the people. Jammu and Kashmir's voters have shown in the elections that they will not accept negative politics, and we will continue to uphold this approach.”—(KNO)
